Hons, MAPS was instrumental in establishing Tom’s House and HOME. Rachael is a Psychologist working with the Department of Corrective Services, NSW, specializing in the rehabilitation of offenders with a history of violence. She is the mother of Tom who has Down Syndrome and Diabetes Richard Betts B Comm, Dip Financial Services is the Treasurer of HOME. He is a company director who brings expertise in Project Management, Financial Planning, Finance and large-scale fund-raising. Sorcha McGee BA Media and Communication, is HOME’s Secretary and Public Officer. With a background in Sociology and Communications, Sorcha is passionate about connection. Her goal is to see the Intentional Community expand to include platforms both on and offline. John Graham BArch Hons, ARIA is the Principal Architect of John Graham & Associates, and is a well respected heritage architect. John has designed a range of accessible and energy-efficient housing types in Australia and overseas. John has also been actively involved in the work of HOME since it began. He also prepared the designs and plans for the theoretical site for the HOME Feasibility Study and prepared the pre DA for Leichhardt Council. Jane Betts BSc, Grad Dip Computing, Dip Education. Jane has worked as a computer programmer and teacher. She was a strategic planner for the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games and the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, and has also worked as an events manager. She is passionate about equity for people with disabilities. Jane Sampson MEd in Adult Education, Grad Dip Continuing Education, BA. Jane has worked in the field of adult education for over 30 years , including 20 years as an academic at UTS where she was involved in the education of adult educators. At UTS Jane worked extensively with students employed in not-for-profit organisations providing services and learning opportunities for disadvantaged groups in the community Linda Ward BA in Community Social Service, Master in Social Policy and Administration. Linda has worked in the disability sector for 31 years, the last 25 in leadership and senior management positions. Linda is also secretary of ASID (Australasian Society for Intellectual Disability) NSW ACT. She is passionate about self-advocacy for people with disabilities and inclusive research. HOME Remembers HOME’s co-founder, Ken Hancock, died after a long illness in August 2012. He is fondly remembered by everyone in the HOME Community. Ken worked tirelessly pursuing the dream of HOME. For many years he was also President of the Down Syndrome Association of NSW, Chairperson of St George Careers Development, Secretary of the St George Central Rotary Club and honorary solicitor for a number of community and charitable organisations. Ken was a former presiding member of the Guardianship Tribunal of NSW. In his legal practice he has worked extensively in Elder Person law and Disability Law. |
